Our founder

Hi there, thanks for taking some time out of your busy life to look at our website. I have been a nurse for over 30 years, my Mum was a Nurse and Midwife, and I’ve had a fabulous career. Nursing gave me the ability to work around my growing family, work overseas, and enabled me to be in CEO of a national charity and run my own business.

Then the pandemic hit. It changed everything. I was already working as a locum in primary care and I never stopped working, but no one really asked me how I was doing, not really. As time went on, I realised that many of the nurses I worked alongside were burnt out and traumatized and felt professionally unsupported. Reading continuous clinical journals just didn’t hit the spot.

Even student nurses I spoke with felt a sense of trepidation to begin their careers.  How could I let my profession decline like this? The words of my Leeds Beckett University Vice chancellor sparked something in me as I collected my MSc, ‘Go out there and do better’ he said. That was it…. HAYDEN was born, so every time you read a part of the magazine, just know that someone is checking in on you and giving you that motivational support to get you through life and work whenever you need it any time of the day

Read on and enjoy, I know you are so much more!
