Operation Home Working
The pandemic brought us several different work practices but the one that seems to have gained traction across all sectors of nursing is working from home.
So, whether its triaging or face to face consultations you might need to review your workspace. So its time to remove the pile of washing or paperwork from the office desk and think twice about using that plastic garden chair to sit on for 5-6 hrs.
Let’s get the basics right first take a look at your environment and think about the 5 Steps to Risk assessment as per Health and Safety Executive.
- Identify hazards
- Assess the risks
- Control the risks
- Record your findings
- Review the controls
Think about your back posture, the light, storage, noise and your free tabletop workspace.
Now the mandatory stuff is out of the way let’s look at creating a zen space, somewhere you love to come into. Now of course you could go down the minimalist uncluttered route supported by the Maria Kondo, Konmari approach, or you could go down the Clare Seal from MFY that piles everything up and then has a big clear out to second hand stores. Either way make it your productive space. Have something that makes you smile in it. Jazz it up with that pop of colour. Add a plant to give a sense of nature and have a special room plugin or reed diffuser to stimulate your endorphins.
- Need office productivity
Choose blues, greens, yellows
and orange in your office. - Need calm contemplation
Choose aquas, turquoise,
naturals and light greens.
