Sister B’s Ward Round Notes
Did you know?
With Flu jab season upon us thought we could look into the history of the syringe it’s come a long way. Early syringes were used more for suction than application. They used to suck cataracts out of the eye..ouch!!
Scottish Dr Alexander Wood created the modern-day hypodermic syringe out of glass with a hollow needle to treat pain in 1853. Charles Pravaz also created the metal syringe in the same year. They used to clean and reuse them…eco-friendly I suppose.
Now we have many types of syringes, multi-shot, insulin, dental, are but a few, so next time you give a shot think about the history.
