A Note From the Editor

Hey! how are you doing? The sun’s been out, and the birds are singing, the garden is blooming, and the passports have been checked for the upcoming holiday season, it must be summer.

Firstly, I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has either committed to being interviewed or has written an article for HAYDEN LIFESTYLES MAGAZINE (HLM). We are finally on the way with our quarterly magazine and our digital magazine subscription has really taken off. There is no doubt that this has been a real journey, but such an enjoyable one, as you can see from my timeline article. Everywhere I go, I represent our readers, and it’s a real pleasure.

I am so pleased to introduce you to our first HLM hall of fame nurse Monica Fletcher, she is such a pioneer in primary care, developing some of the practices and guidelines we still use today. Then we have Naomi Smith, a real patient advocate training in sign language to engage meaningful communication, what a skill to have.

In this issue we cover many aspects of beginning and recognise the difficulties of just starting anything, as I have faith that you can move positively into the next chapter of your life, whether it be work or home. When things seem at their worst or you just don’t understand why it didn’t work out as you planned, recognise it for what it is and go again. Your story begins when you are willing to let it start in a better place and perhaps a better time.

I also have to say a mega thank you to the Calderdale Council, Regeneration & Strategy Department, who have supported this edition as part of a grant, this really moved me.

HLM is ready. Our journey continues all with you in mind and you can now support us on socials, write an article, be interviewed, or just subscribe. Become a founding supporter and your trust will be rewarded as we grow.
